Backpacks page 13

Versatile and comfortable

Backpack are well-known for the versatility and ease of use with which they can be worn and adjusted. The range of compartments and pockets offer space for both a DSLR camera with various lenses or a camcorder with accompanying accessories. The layout differs per bag and can be altered to your own equipment and the weight and size of that. The comfort factor is reflected in the soft carry straps with an interim strap, for easy horizontal clipping across the chest. With some models a hip belt offers extra stability, to keep the backpack securely in place. Because freedom of movement is important when you are walking through busy streets or overgrown countryside, and you don't want the backpack to be a hindrance. Lowepro and Mindshift, among others, offer ever-innovative solutions for the adventurous photographers among you, where you needn't put the backpack down in order to retrieve your equipment.

Protective and water resistant

Besides storing your equipment, a backpack protects your cameras and accessories too. The backpack's robust material and its layout comprising several compartments ensure your equipment stays in place and isn't damaged by knocks or impacts. Access to your equipment in most backpacks is via the back, keeping potential thieves out of harm's way. A uniquely-applied coating on the fabric ensures the bag is water-resistant and your equipment is safely stored away in inclement conditions.
