You can use both square and rectangular filters.

Features of the Benro Filter Holder Kit for Sigma 12-24mmf/4.5-5.6 EX DG HSM II

Benro recommends using the Benro SD CPL-HD ULCA WMC 150mm filter. In addition to the polarising filter, you can use two other filters of 150mm width and a thickness of two millimetres. You can use this Benro kit directly on the Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 DG HSM Type II lens for Canon, Nikon and Sony or on lenses with a filter size of 95 or 77 millimetres. To use the Benro HF150 on lenses with a different filter size, you will need an optional Benro Step Down ring suitable for that lens.
