The Fujifilm XF400mm f/4.5 R LM OIS WR is a super-telephoto lens for the FUJIFILM X-series with a focal length of 400mm, equivalent to 609mm in full-frame terms. It is built for wildlife and sports photography.
Optical quality
The optical construction consists of 21 elements in 14 groups, including two Super ED elements and four ED elements. This combination suppresses chromatic aberration, the colour fringing that quickly becomes visible in super-telephoto lenses, so that subjects at great distances are rendered sharply and with accurate colours. The maximum aperture of f/4.5 gives you enough light-gathering power to separate your subject from the background.
Image stabilisation
The built-in optical image stabilisation compensates for up to 5.5 stops of camera shake. At a focal length of 400mm, even the slightest movement shows up in your image; the stabilisation gives you the freedom to shoot handheld without immediately needing a tripod.
Fast and silent autofocus
An internal focusing group driven by a linear motor delivers fast and silent autofocus. That is exactly what you need when a bird suddenly changes direction or an athlete makes an unexpected move. The Focus Preset function lets you save a focus position, and you can quickly return to it via the SET button. The built-in focus limiter restricts the focusing range to subjects beyond five metres.
Compact for its class
The lens weighs approximately 1,245 grams, which is light for a super-telephoto of this reach. The centre of gravity is deliberately placed closer to the camera body, keeping the combination better balanced during long shooting sessions. The lens is sealed at 20 points against dust and moisture, operates at temperatures down to -10°C, and the front element features a fluorine coating that repels water and prevents dirt from adhering to the glass.
