The LACIE 2big RAID 8TB USB-C is a RAID array with two hot-swappable hard drive bays. Each bay contains a Seagate IronWolf Pro 4TB 7200rpm hard drive, renowned for high performance and durability. Ideal if you need to store large amounts of important data safely. The drives come pre-configured in HFS+ for Mac systems. For maximum performance of up to 420MB/s, the drives are configured in RAID 0, meaning both drives are treated as a single unit so you can make full use of the storage capacity. Prefer to use the second drive as a backup? Simply switch the configuration to RAID 1. A JBOD configuration is also available if you want both drives to operate independently of each other.

The 2big RAID features a USB-C 3.1 port for connecting to your computer. For added security, the RAID is compatible with Kensington locks, allowing you to secure it to your workstation. To prevent overheating, the system uses a large built-in fan. The aluminium enclosure provides passive cooling, and thanks to the combination of both cooling systems, the hard drive is barely audible on your desk.

The LaCie 2big includes Intego Backup Manager Pro software for Mac and Genie Backup Manager Pro for PC. You can use this software for backups and data synchronisation. It also offers the ability to create bootable backups of a macOS startup volume. With LaCie RAID Manager software, you benefit from system monitoring and receive email alerts for extreme temperatures and unusual RAID events. Should the drives fail, you can make use of the 5-year Data Recovery service.
