Tamron 16-50mm f/2.8 A - Sony E-mount
The Tamron 16-50mm f/2.8 A is a fast zoom lens for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras. The lens has a focal length of 16-50mm. At 16mm you shoot from a wide-angle perspective, which makes it easier to capture wide scenes, for example in the street when you want to fit an entire building in the frame, or sweeping landscapes on holiday. Zoom in to 50mm and you get a perspective that matches what you see with your own eyes, which is perfect for portraits, travel and street photography where you don't need a wide-angle perspective. In addition, this lens has a minimum focusing distance of 15cm, which lets you get close to your subject.
The constant f/2.8 aperture makes this a fast lens with which you can take photos in changing, challenging conditions. This keeps the lens's light-gathering ability the same, regardless of the zoom range you shoot at, and it gives a beautiful blur in the background. The optical construction of 14 elements in 10 groups combines one LD glass element, two GM glass elements and two hybrid aspherical elements. These glass elements correct spherical and chromatic aberrations for very high sharpness from edge to edge. The 7-blade rounded diaphragm produces a soft, round bokeh.
With a length of 79.9mm and a weight of 305 grams, this is the smallest f/2.8 zoom lens in the Tamron range. The lens fits on the most compact APS-C bodies without feeling top-heavy and is also well balanced on a gimbal or video grip. The VXD linear motor provides fast, accurate and quiet autofocus that effortlessly tracks moving subjects, for both photo and video. The moisture-resistant construction has multiple seals around the housing, and the fluorine coating on the front element repels water and grease, so you can clean the lens easily. The front lens cap has a hole on both sides for a cord, so you can attach it to your camera strap or body and not lose it.
